NLP Language Patterns Integration
Learning, Application and Integration for NLP Language Patterns
To become effective with artful NLP language patterns and philosophies actually takes practise and detailed knowledge of the individual patterns. You will find that some of these patterns and techniques are very effective at actually generating change and others are more useful as catalysts or set-up patterns. These set-up patterns are very good at stimulating movement in what may have been a rigid or stuck mindset. Then you can use one of the other more directive patterns to direct towards change. You can find for yourself which of these fall into which category for you - some may well fall into both depending on circumstances. Learn in Combinations
The best way to pick these up seems to be to learn the individual NLP language patterns in isolation, apply them in combination. They are far more effective when used synergistically with other language patterns within this system. Some of them actually combine better and this can vary according to outcome. Occasionally, you can use these very well in isolation but, be aware that can often mean you are on the threshold of over exposure with them. The more you over rely on one or two patterns the more it intrudes into the consciousness of your listeners and the less effective it becomes. This can even be to the point of loss of credibility for your self. How often do we see this with politicians for example? Often you tell a newcomer to NLP by the overuse of the terms how specifically, where specifically, who specifically or what specifically. I have seen pseudo therapists continually offer the refrain 'How does that make you feel? How does that make you feel? ......."
Learn from your conversations.
Far and away, the best way to integrate these patterns is to go over your conversations from the day and explore how you could have applied one or two of these, or even better two or three of these NLP language patterns in combination. This is the single most important point I can offer you in terms of mastering NLP language patterns: The best time to practice these language patterns is AFTER your conversations. Make sure you are using your standard NLP skills and come from a positive confident state. Amp up your submodalities. Let your brain come to this skill gently. Don't demand high skill in the moment too soon. By the way, this reflects classic Feldenkrais learning strategies. Then explore how else could you have applied them with the same conversation. You will become far more skilled by developing your capacity to be flexible with one or two combinations first wiihin one conversation than with many different language patterns too soon. You can also choose two or three of these patterns to take through your day with you and wonder where and when you can use them. I recommend choosing two or three instead of just one as you will begin the process of using these patterns in combination. This is where they become extremely effective and you skill will develop dramatically. Many people come to NLP and try to master the language patterns in the area of Hypnotic Trance or try to bring Trance techniques to ordinary everyday life. While this is one way I don't think it is the best. It is of a higher order to learn how to adapt these patterns to your ordinary everyday life - the people you live with, your work colleagues etc. This is where you really want your skills as this is where you spend most of your life. As we cover the individual NLP language patters we will mainly be focusing on this all important area - how you go through your daily life with these skills in those areas that are important to you.
